At a glance
- PayCub builds each employee's T4 from the pay runs you entered during the year.
- Enter and save every pay run for the year before generating T4s.
- More than 5 slips must be filed electronically. PayCub can create the T4 XML file (beta).
- T4s are due to the CRA and to employees by the last day of February. If that falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day.
T4s in PayCub
Go to Home → T4 Reports and choose the tax year. PayCub fills in each slip from the employee's year-to-date totals: employment income, CPP and CPP2 contributions, EI premiums, income tax deducted, and insurable and pensionable earnings.
Because the slips come straight from your pay history, they're only as complete as that history. Make sure the last pay run of the year is in before you generate them.
Filing electronically: T4 XML (beta)
If you file more than 5 slips for a calendar year, the CRA requires you to file electronically. PayCub can create the T4 XML file for the CRA's Internet file transfer, built from the same pay history as your slips, including the T4 Summary totals the file needs. This is currently in beta.

T4 Summary PDF (beta)
The T4 Summary totals all of your slips for the year. If you file on paper (5 slips or fewer), you send the CRA a signed T4 Summary with your slips. PayCub can fill in the CRA's T4 Summary form for you. If you have more than 5 slips, it's marked as a copy for your records, since electronic filers don't send the paper form. This is also in beta.
Filing and the deadline
You're responsible for filing T4s with the CRA and giving each employee their copy. Both are due by the last day of February after the tax year. When that day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, a return received or postmarked by the next business day is on time.
